Students at Shuttleworth College are given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in a key component of maths that is relevant to everyday life.

The GCSE Statistics qualification develops skills that students will use in other subjects such as science and geography, and reinforces techniques needed for GCSE maths as well as supporting progression to A level maths.

GCSE Statistics incorporates Statistics, Probability, Number and certain elements of Algebra. This covers many of the graphs, diagrams and tables used in business, scientific research and media. Students are encouraged to develop enquiring techniques enabling them to model sets of data, analyse them and justify their conclusions both statistically and in real terms.

Bertrand Russell

“I love maths. We learn difficult topics and get challenged to be our best. It is a good environment as we are hard-working and there are no distractions.”

Katelyn Sturdy, Year 11
