We are pleased to shine a spotlight on two of our former students: Naomi Sturdy and Isobel Pickering! These young alumnae are among many of our former students who have gone on to secure a place at the university of their dreams.

Naomi Sturdy joined us at Shuttleworth College from St. Mary’s primary school and was a valued member of the Shuttleworth community during her time here, being a particular favourite of our wonderful science department. They are extremely proud of her achievements as, after studying Level 3 Applied Science at Nelson & Colne College, she has now secured a place at the Preston UCLan campus to study Forensic Science.

“My time at Shuttleworth was fantastic,” said Naomi, “an amazing environment where I made friends for life. It’s really set me up for success!”

One of those friends for life was Isobel Pickering, who is also on track to achieve great things at university. After graduating two years ago with the stellar GCSE results of one A*, six As, and three Bs, Isobel studied A-Levels in Law, Sociology, and Psychology. This talented young woman has now been accepted into the prestigious Leeds Beckett university to read Law.

“I came to Shuttleworth from Padiham Primary – keeping it local!” Isobel said. “The College is so welcoming and I was so happy here. Key Stage 3 was especially great for me as there were so many fun clubs and activities on after school.”

We wish both girls all the luck in the world as they embark on the next stage of their academic adventure.
