Business
This course introduces students to the key concepts, terminology, and real-world issues that shape modern business operations.
In Year 10, students begin by learning how entrepreneurs spot and develop business opportunities. In marketing, students study how businesses identify and meet customer needs through market research, the marketing mix, and promotional strategies. Students also learn about human resources, looking at how businesses recruit, train, and motivate employees to improve performance.
In Year 11, the focus shifts to operations and finance. Students learn about production processes, quality management, customer service, and supplier relationships. In finance, they study sources of finance, costs, revenue, profit and loss, and managing cash flow. Students also examine how businesses respond to external influences such as ethical and environmental issues, the economic climate, and globalisation. They are encouraged to understand the interdependent nature of business functions and apply their learning to contemporary business scenarios.
